A thin veil of skin on a new born babies face is said to have a meaning, can anyone enlighten me.?

In medieval times the appearance of a caul on a newborn baby was seen as a sign of good luck. It was considered an omen that the child was destined for greatness. Gathering the caul onto paper was considered an important tradition of childbirth: the midwife would rub a sheet of paper across the baby's head and face, pressing the material of the caul onto the paper. The caul would then be presented to the mother, to be kept as an heirloom.

Over the course of European history, a popular legend developed suggesting that possession of a baby's caul would give its bearer good luck and protect that person from death by drowning. Cauls were therefore highly prized by sailors. Medieval women often sold these cauls to sailors for large sums of money; a caul was regarded as a valuable talisman.

Reply:The remains of a broken contraceptive?
Reply:In bygone times, a baby born with a cowl around it was said to have good fortune, and be wise. Many women who were used as midwives were also medicine women, who would make all sorts of brews of nasty concoctions which were given to the sick and afflicted, probably some did work, others would not, so these women were seen as sort of witches, the information about babies being born with cowls would have come from them, and is as likely to be as lucky as one of their potions would be to actually work. An old wives tale with no proven scientific fact to it. Saying that, many people who have made good fortune one way or another in life, were apparently born with a cowl. Then again, many weren't. But that is where it comes from.
Reply:In medieval times it was considered good luck. The silky membrane was often pressed onto a piece of paper and presented to the mother as a good luck charm.

In the psychic world, it is more often regarded as a “veil”. And a baby born with a veil is destined for great things.

Having been born with a veil is a sign of psychic abilities, good luck or a special destiny.
